What happens when the young prince of Wakanda goes undercover at a middle school on on the south side of Chicago? He makes friends with the nerds, destroys everyone at wrestling, and discovers a love of Jell-O and pizza. Loved this depiction of a strong, but thoughtful young hero --beautifully written, packed with adventure, perfectly paced. You'll be jumping up and down and screaming by the time he finally puts the suit on!
Very well-written book, I would highly recommend for young readers and old readers alike -- anyone who enjoys a simple action novel! Reading this got my hype to see the movie this weekend!
My students are eating this one up and, being a super nerdy fan of both Marvel and Black Panther, I definitely wanted to read this one.I enjoyed learning more about T’Challa as a young boy, as well as some interesting connections to other Marvel characters that I didn’t expect. I would have liked a little more development of some of the characters, and a resolution to T’Challa’s relationship with his brother. And, I REALLY missed Shuri. All in all, however, I was thoroughly entertained and gobbled this up in a day!!
